52-week, rigorous dietetic internship with medical nutrition therapy concentration in a tertiary care, 720-bed teaching hospital

  • Provide nutrition care for adults and pediatric patents with a variety of complex medical conditions

  • Utilize nutrition care process to assess, identify nutrition diagnoses and design nutrition interventions in an acute care setting

  • Develop enteral and parenteral nutrition support plans, and provide nutrition education for inpatients and outpatients

  • 4 weeks outpatient (Comprehensive Cancer Center, Diabetes Teaching Center)

  • 2 weeks elective clinical (Surgical Oncology, Neurology) 

  • 6 weeks staff relief (General Medicine, Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery, Malignant Hematology, General Surgery, Kidney & Liver Transplant) 

  • 2 weeks community (San Francisco Department of Aging and Adult Services, Office on the Aging)

  • 8 weeks food service management (UCSF Nutrition & Food Services)

Other Achievements

  • Presenting a professional case study outlining common disease processes presenting in a rare triad of extreme hypertriglyceridemia with concurrent pancreatitis and diabetic ketoacidosis, along with the patient's medical and dietary management and clinical course from the inpatient to outpatient setting

  • Delivering a journal article review presentation analyzing the strengths and limitations of current research on prophylactic versus reactive enteral nutrition support in head and neck cancer patients and the implications on nutritional and clinical outcomes

  • Developing education materials for pediatric oncology patients and families in the inpatient and outpatient care settings

  • Designing a targeted community forum lesson plan on nutrition during cancer treatment​

  • Leading a team to analyze micronutrients and macronutrients in current patient menu, identify incomplete micronutrient data, compile values using USDA data, identify nutrients below RDA reference ranges, and recommend menu-planning solutions, utilizing Computrition and Food Processor software

  • Organizing training and administering materials to congregate nutrition providers for Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which helps to support and increase healthy food access for low-income seniors

  • Mastering proficiency in Epic electronic health record, Computrition, and Food Processor Nutrition Analysis programs
